The first meeting of the CLIMAT AmSud Scientific Committee will take place on October 22nd at the National University of Asunción, in San Lorenzo, Paraguay.
Like the STIC and MATH AmSud programmes, which have existed for 13 and 11 years respectively and have demonstrated their ability to strengthen regional scientific cooperation, the CLIMAT AmSud programme is intended to strengthen collaboration and the creation of research and development networks in the field of adaptation and mitigation of the effects of climate change, by promoting the mobility of researchers, for the implementation of joint research projects
During this meeting, a session to report the results of the CLIMAT AmSud test-projects is planned in order to enhance their future collaboration prospects. Indeed, as part of the launch of the next CLIMAT AmSud call for projects, five test-projects were funded by the French research organizations members of the program (IRD, CNRS, INRA, INRIA and CIRAD) and by the DRC, which include several countries in the region. The objective of this meeting is to specify the eligibility criteria for this new call for projects, in particular the type of projects and the eligible disciplinary fields.
The launch of this new CLIMAT AmSud call for projects is scheduled for December 2019. The launch of the programme will be officially announced by the French delegation’s representants at COP25.
